Hands on stabilization techniques. Incidents will consist of overturned vehicles, under-rides, controlled lower, the use of sway straps, vehicles on their sides and will involve various types of vehicles and objects.
Description
The session is primarily a hands-on event with minimal classroom time. Proper PPE including helmet, safety glasses/goggles, gloves, safety boots, turn out jacket (jumpsuit) are required. You will NOT be allowed to participate without proper PPE. All gear is subject to inspection by Mid-Atlantic Rescue Systems, Inc. A folding chair and non-alcoholic beverages are also recommended.
Classes will run from 0900 – 1600 with a one-hour lunch break. Lunch will be provided on site.
The day will consist of a brief classroom session (please bring a thumb drive if you would like a copy of the power point) followed by hands on stabilization techniques. Incidents will consist of overturned vehicles, under-rides, controlled lower, the use of sway straps, vehicles on their sides and will involve various types of vehicles and objects. Students will rotate through different incident types and will receive instruction at each station. All the stations will cover stabilization only and will not go into hydraulic tool evolutions.
